Meet Ms. Sylvia!

What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
I joined the Alma crew because Alma’s mission is exactly what I was looking for. My first day walking into the building, you can see the joy and positive impact the staff and teachers have on the scholars at Alma.

What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope to provide a positive impact at Alma and help scholars reach their full potential and create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
My high school English teacher. She was kind and always welcoming to her students, and she gave her students tough love when it was needed.

Why did you become involved in education?
Education has always been an important foundation that helped me build my
goals and dreams. Throughout my life, my teachers and professors have given me insight and guidance in this field and play a huge role in why I am passionate about becoming a teacher. They were the role models I needed to get me where I am today, and I wish to have the same impact on my students.

Where did you go to college or post-secondary school?
I went to Bridgewater State University, and I am currently enrolled at American International College earning my Masters in Early Childhood Education.

What did you like about your college?
For my Masters program at AIC, I love being in a class filled with educators from all over New England. We learn from each other, share lesson ideas, and classroom ideas.
