Last Day of School Information (for 8th graders only):

When: Friday, June 14th, 2024

  • Scholars may wear their “Sunday Best” instead of their school uniform on this day. Jeans of any kind are not permitted.
  • Scholars will have a regular 3:30pm dismissal. 

Graduation Information:

When: Friday June 14th, 2024, 5:30pm - 6:30pm

Where: Alma del Mar Frederick Douglass Campus, 767 Church St.,  New Bedford, MA

Who:  Our graduating class of 2032 and their families!


Where does 8th Grade graduation take place?

  • The graduation ceremony will take place outside of the school in the front of the building.
  • Please carpool with other family members when possible. We have limited parking available.
  • When you arrive, please park in the Fisher College parking lot at 777 Church St., New Bedford, MA. Additional parking will be available at the Christian Fellowship Center across the street.  Handicap parking is available at the Douglass Campus, 767 Church St., New Bedford, MA. Staff will be available to assist with directions to parking.

What time should my scholar arrive at graduation?

  • 4:00pm - 8th grade scholars should arrive at 4pm at the front door of the school. They will take their diploma picture when they arrive.
  • After taking their picture, scholars will go to their classroom for final graduation practice. NOTE: Dismissal is at 3:30pm. If your scholar takes the bus, they will need to quickly get dressed and return to school by 4:00pm. The graduation ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30pm.

How many family members can attend graduation?

  • Each scholar’s family will be limited to 5 pre-assigned tickets for the event. We will send tickets home with your scholar prior to the ceremony. 
  • Families of 8th graders are welcome to enjoy light refreshments in the cafeteria after the ceremony.
  • Seating is on a first come, first served basis.

What should my 8th grader wear to graduation?

  • Scholars will be given a navy blue cap, tassel, and gown that they are required to wear at the ceremony.  Scholars may keep their cap and tassel. They must return their gown immediately following the ceremony.
  • Footwear should be reasonable to walk up and down a ramp. 
  • Scholars are expected to wear “Sunday Best” attire under their cap and gown. Jeans, athletic wear, and sweatpants are not permitted.

Will there be a photographer?

  • The school will be hiring professional photographers at the event. As part of a class gift to scholars, the photographer will take individual photos and a class picture.  Approximately 2-3 weeks following graduation, the photos will be available for pick up at the school.  The school will contact families when they are available
  • Families will receive the photographs of their scholar over the summer free of charge.
