What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
I decided to join the Crew at Alma because I enjoy working with students and helping them grow into their best selves. I was drawn to Alma’s mission and the strong sense of community here.
What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope to create a classroom where students feel safe, respected, and excited to learn about their health and well-being. I want to help them build healthy habits and understand how their bodies and minds work.
What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
My high school Health/PE teacher made a big difference in my life. He had a real passion for teaching and made science come alive. He inspired me to care about how the body works and helped me realize I wanted to teach and support others, too.
Why did you become involved in education?
Education kind of fell into my lap. I started as a paraprofessional and quickly realized how much I enjoyed working with students. That experience led me to become a PE teacher, and I’ve been passionate about helping students grow ever since.
Where did you go to college or post-secondary school and what did you like about it?
I attended Salem State College in Salem, MA, and later went to the Salter School of Massage Therapy. I really liked how diverse the community was and enjoyed the campus life. The classes were small, so I got to know my professors pretty well, which made learning better and more fun.
What is your favorite food?
My favorite food is a Portuguese steak plate with fries and rice.
What is your favorite book?
It’s hard to pick just one, but I really enjoy anything written by James Patterson.
