Meet Ms. Hubbard!

What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
I chose Alma because I want to be in a school where I can grow quickly as an educator while also making a real impact. Alma’s structure and dedication to helping new teachers succeed stood out to me immediately. I’m excited about learning from experienced educators, contributing to a strong team, and being part of a community that pushes both students and teachers to do their best work.

What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope to contribute a classroom environment where students feel challenged, supported, and cared for every day. I want to bring consistency, warmth, and high expectations so that every student feels capable of success. My goal is to be a teacher who helps students gain confidence in themselves—academically and personally.

What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
A teacher who truly made a difference in my life was my 12th-grade English teacher. She was the kind of adult who made school feel safe and welcoming at a time when I really needed it. Whenever I was going through something or just needed someone to listen, she was always there without hesitation. She would invite me to eat lunch with her, and those small moments of connection made a big impact.

Why did you become involved in education?
I became involved in education because I realized I felt stuck in my previous career and wasn’t feeling the sense of purpose I wanted in my day-to-day work. Teaching had always been in the back of my mind as something I was drawn to, but over time that interest grew into a strong determination. I wanted a career where I could make a meaningful impact, build real relationships, and feel proud of the work I’m doing every day.

Choosing education wasn’t just a change of direction—it felt like finally moving toward the path I was meant to be on. The more I learned about the profession, the more excited and passionate I became. I’m genuinely motivated by the idea of helping students grow, supporting them through challenges, and being a consistent, positive presence in their lives. This career change feels purposeful, energizing, and aligned with the kind of person I want to be.

Where did you go to college or post-secondary school and what did you like about it?
I completed my bachelor’s degree at Louisiana State University, and I’m now in the process of applying to Master’s programs in Elementary Education.

What I loved most about LSU was the overall environment. The campus had an energy that made every day feel exciting. I especially loved the big football games—the sense of school pride and community was unforgettable. The southern food didn’t hurt either; it quickly became one of my favorite parts of living there. And most importantly, I formed some of my closest friendships at LSU. The people I met and the experiences we shared made my time there incredibly meaningful.
