What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
My 4th grade teacher made a big impact in my life because she treated me and my peers as unique individuals. She was supportive of us as people, while maintaining high expectations. She tried to understand what was important to our class and included it in our education. I had an understanding that my worth was not tied to grades and I had a positive learning experience because of this.
Why did you become involved in education?
My mom is a retired teacher and principal. She always instilled in us the value of education. Investing in my own education was always a priority and this passion for learning is what drives me.
Where did you go to college or post-secondary school, and what did you like about it?
I attended URI and UMASS Dartmouth. I enjoyed learning from other educators in my graduate program. I appreciated the opportunity to create mock lessons and receive feedback from my peers.
