Meet Ms. Costeira!

What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
I decided to join the crew at Alma because of the strong sense of community and support. Everyone was so welcoming, and I could see how much they genuinely care about helping students grow and succeed. I knew it was a place where I could continue growing while also making a positive impact on students.

What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope to be a good role model and a helpful resource for students. I want them to feel comfortable coming to me when they need help, whether it’s with learning or just having someone there to support them. I want to create a positive and welcoming environment where every student feels supported.

What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
My second-grade teacher, Mrs. Milton, made a big difference in my life. She was always happy to teach and encouraged me whenever I felt anxious. She also made sure every student felt celebrated for their accomplishments. She showed me how important it is to make students feel supported and proud of themselves.

Why did you become involved in education?
I’ve always been truly passionate about education. I enjoyed helping my peers understand their work and seeing that moment when something finally clicks for them. Those experiences made me realize how much I enjoy supporting others in their learning and inspired me to pursue a career in education.

Where did you go to college or post-secondary school, and what did you like about it?
I went to Bridgewater State University for undergraduate & I am currently going for my graduate studies at UMass. What I liked most about my college was how much it challenged me to grow. It wasn’t always easy, but pushing through the difficult moments and seeing my hard work pay off made me feel really proud of how far I had come.
