What made you decide to join the Crew at Alma?
What really drew me to Alma was the people. From the beginning, everyone I met was so welcoming and genuine, and I could really feel the sense of community. I was excited about the opportunity to bring my HR experience to a new environment, continue to grow professionally, and be part of a team where I can make a meaningful impact. Every interaction I had throughout the process just made me more excited about joining Alma.
What do you hope to contribute to Alma?
I hope to contribute my HR experience, a fresh perspective, and a genuine willingness to support people however I can. Building strong relationships and trust has always been really important to me, and I hope to be someone that staff feel comfortable coming to and know they can rely on. I’m also excited to learn Alma’s culture and processes and find ways to contribute, improve things where I can, and grow alongside the team.
What teacher made a difference in your life, and how?
My mom has probably made the biggest difference in my life as an educator. She has been in education for 35 years, so I grew up seeing firsthand the amount of care, patience, and dedication that goes into supporting children and families. Watching her throughout my life has given me such an appreciation for educators and the impact they can have, not only on their students, but on entire families and communities.
Why did you become involved in education?
Education has always been a part of my life, especially growing up with my mom being an educator. While I didn’t take the traditional path of becoming a teacher myself, I found my place in education through HR. I really enjoy being able to support the people who are doing such important work with students every day. It gives my work a bigger sense of purpose, knowing that supporting staff ultimately helps support the students and families we serve.
Where did you go to college or post-secondary school, and what did you like about it?
West Virginia University - Go Mountaineers! What I loved most about West Virginia University was the sense of community and school spirit. Even though it’s a large university, it always felt like there was such a strong connection among students and a real sense of belonging. I also loved being able to meet people from so many different backgrounds and have experiences that helped me grow both personally and professionally.
